Review by Richard “Too Low” Haas
When I first returned from Viet Nam with a little extra money in my pocket and a need to look around a little, I bought the only motorcycle I’ve ever owned…a Honda “Dream”. It was cheap, reliable and easy to ride.
In those days you didn’t need this book because there were very few choices, either in bikes or accessories.
If I were in the market for a motorcycle today, I would hope that someone cared enough about me to turn me on to this book before I went shopping. The choices are endless: domestic, Asian, European, chopper, full dressed cruiser, café racer, sport bikes, and the list of accessories goes on forever!
That’s the niche that this book fills and fills nicely. It covers every aspect of shopping for a motorcycle, from engine, frame and performance considerations right down to accessories and apparel.
Author Bill Stermer, who has written five books and thousands of articles about motorcycles, brings his 40 years of riding and writing experience to the table and, through his easy to read writing style and great photos and drawings, helps you make a lot of these decisions prior to going out into the market place.
The author include tips on riding, both solo and with a group, a glossary covering motorcycle terms you may not know, maintenance procedures and schedules, how to pack for a trip, it’s all here.
