My name is Rick Abbot. I am from a small town called Auburn. Located in North East Indiana, home of the Auburn Cord Duesenburg. My wife and I own a company called Kat Daddy Customs, and by custom I mean custom! We build one off bikes that you can’t buy out of catalog. We started out building fenders for any type of bike, then it turned into frame mods, tanks, and then complete frames. This all started with a complete ‘99 Fat Boy rebuild that took 3rd place at EasyRiders in Columbus. My family and friends kept after me to start my own custom motorcycle shop. So then Kat Daddy was born! We started the company 3 years ago, and have grown a little each year. It’s a slow road but by word of mouth, and with builds that are different, we are getting there.
This bike featured is our 4th build and we feel it is as cool as anything we have seen! Everything green on this bike is one off, hand fabricated. I used an old school English Wheel, plannishing hammer and mallet technology to fab this bike from the ground up. Even the fender blanks were spun on a 50 year old lathe, and hard maple dies. The frame and handle bars were bent with a tubing bender. The down tube and swing arm were cut out with a plasma cutter. The down tube also acts as the oil tank and holds 4 quarts, the swing arm was designed to work on the outside of the frame. This helps with the center of gravity. The rear fender actually separates when the air suspension is inflated, so it looks like all one piece until you air it up to ride.
This gas tank can hold up to 6 1/2 gallons. All break lines, oil lines, throttle cables, and wires are ran internal for a clean look. The forward controls are modified Accutronix. The front fender is split down the center and sides were made to look like the fork tubes pierced the sides of the fender. The hand controls were modified BDL. The toe pegs, hand grips, foot pegs, ignition covers and fork tube caps were machined. Dupoint Paint and Hot Hues sponsored all paint materials. Air FX out of Indianapolis sponsored the fender Air Ride. Thanks to both! I have put 100 miles on the bike so it is not just a trailer queen!
A lot of hard work and sacrifice went into this bike but I love what I do and with my family and friends support we feel we will be a success!
