We don’t know how your July 4th finished, but it sure started off with a big bang at Harley-Davidson of Ft. Myers. Revelers were treated to a free BBQ, apple pie, soft drinks, DJ, bike games, a patriotic costume contest, a bikini bike wash, and the chance to dunk some local heavyweights in a dunk tank. Proceeds from the bike wash and dunk tank were donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. (MDA)
Some of the heavyweights included HDFM General Manager Ron Hall, and Sales Manager Randy Martin. But the real heavyweights were HOG Chapter Director Steve DiPietro and Activities Officer Ron Cox.
DJ Buzzman kept the place jumpin’ with biker favorites and mixed in a few patriotic songs like Lee Greenwood’s,God Bless the USA, Toby Keith’s ,Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue, and Linda Ronstadt’s, Back in the USA.
The Weenie Bite, always a biker favorite, was won by Lori Acevedo who received several marriage proposals afterwards. Irene Tanner won the costume contests and received a HDFM Gift Card.
Although the weather forecast called for early afternoon showers, after all it is Southwestern Florida, nary a drop was felt nor a cloud in the sky. The happy throngs headed home late in the afternoon to prepare for the evening fireworks. Story and photos by RON COX.
