Saturday May 3rd - Redwood City, California The local San Mateo chapter of HOG helped lead the Police Activities League Annual Poker Run. This is one of the best rides of the year. More than 300 bikes showed up for the ride. It started with a quick meeting of the chapter at The Peninsula Harley Davidson Store in Redwood City (our chapter sponsor). After a quick set of instructions from our road captain, we headed to the local PAL office to meet with the rest of the riders. Coffee, doughnuts and registration, and we were off on a 120 mile ride and poker run that was completely police escorted. What a blast being able to run every stop sign and light in town, having California Highway Patrol and local police and law enforcement blocking on-ramps to the freeway to keep the mile long pack together. That was worth the price by itself. Those guys did a fantastic job. The ride was a beautiful tour through the coastal hills of the San Francisco Bay area. Stopping for a quick pick from the poker deck and back on the road. The ride ended at the steps of the Redwood City Courthouse for a BBQ and live band. A fantastic ride from start to finish.
