4th Annual Sean Vandenberg Memorial Ride |
|
First a little history. Sean was diagnosed with cancer when he was 11 years old. He had it a total of 5 times when he passed away at age 27. When he was 18 he was granted a wish - a motorcycle. He loved that bike and whenever he rode it he said that he felt free. He became a journeyman electrician and was married a year and a half upon passing. 4 years ago his mother and I and his sister began a charity ride to grant a scholarship to someone in our home town who would learn a trade. This is our 4th year. As you can see we have a pretty good turnout and raise a bit of money. We also give some to a local wish granting organization we helped found here in Walla Walla County in Washington State. That organization is called "Children's Wishes and Dreams". The money we raise here stays here for the children around here. We are members of the local Chamber of Commerce as well as working full time. (I am not bragging these are just facts. - helps with the healing part I guess). So that is our story. Next year we plan to have a bigger ride with more games for the 5th annual. |
