Well, it's in the books! The First ever SUMMER DAYZE BIKE SHOW on the Courthouse Square in Decatur, Texas. Or like the t-shirts say, a Motorcycle Invasion of the Courthouse Square! (lol) And as we alll know, there's always the "dunno's," and "what if's" we experience when we're putting on the "First-Ever" Shows. But thanks be to God, we feel this show was a real success, in many more ways than one! The afternoon started out VERY warm, and settled into a Nice Texas Spring evening breeze to cool things down for the all the really HOT Bikes. And if there's a better setting than the Old Wise County Courthouse for a back drop in a Bike Show, we'd really like to know what it is! Anyways, on with the news of the show....
About 75 Bikes and Bikers came together to have fun, fellowship, make new friends, and raise money for the Wise Choices Pregnancy Reource Center in Decatur. And though we didn't raise but about $250 for Wise Choices, they had an anonymous donor who is matching all their gifts right now! Turning our Bike show earnings into about a $500 donation to help unwed and unfortunate Mama's. Our Bike Show by-line was: "For the Mama's!" Although there were about 75 Scooters present, the age old problem of getting everyone who comes to register only netted about 55 bikes signing up for awards and giving a cash donation to our beneficiaries, Wise Choices. And not only did those who didn't register miss out on the Blessing of helping Wise Choices, they didn't get a Coool T-shirt either! Moral of story: No singee up; No gettee benefits thereof!
There were all kinds of Bikes that showed, including some Cool BMW's, a Volks Trike, an Electric powered Kawashockiee (He named it, not me!), a very nostalgic Honda 750 sohc-4 fitted in a rigid hog chassis, oodles of harleys of every shape and form, and the "talk of the show", my friend Randy Warnell's 'Peter Fonda" captain america special! (see pics) Great replica Randy! And it was Homebuilt no less! Needless to say, some very difficult judging to be done at the end with all the pristine iron to look over. Many of the participants rode 50+ miles just to come and hang with us in Decatur. And many were interested in the newly forming Christian Bike Club, Solid Rock Southern Cruisers MM. You will hear some more from those by the way! They've only just begun! All in all, I feel we had a very successful Bike Show with the amount of people we had attend, and the even larger amount who said they would have been there had it not landed on the July 4th weekend! We'll do it all again in a few months, possibly 9/9/06. So stay tuned as we come right back atcha here in a few months with more GREAT Scooter coverage from North Texas! And did I mention this was a NON-ALCOHOL event? Didn't need it; Had a blast without it! Besides that, Booz and Scoots NEVER mixed, Til next time, I want to thank all my good friends at www.hotrodhotlineBikes.com for all the donated items you gave, and YESTERDAY'S TEXAS Cafe for all the items and help they were to helping this Bike Show succeed!
